Xi'an itinerary guide
Xi'an 2-Day Itinerary: City Wall, Muslim Quarter, and Terracotta Warriors
Two days in Xi'an is tight but workable because the old city is compact and the Terracotta Warriors sit outside town as a clear half-day anchor. The goal is to keep one day inside the walls and one day for the museum site, then let noodles and lamb dishes fill the gaps.
Best For
Two-Day Route
Old city, wall, towers, food
Start with the City Wall, then move through the Bell Tower and Drum Tower area. Use the evening for Muslim Quarter or Sajinqiao food instead of adding another distant sight.
Terracotta Warriors
Go to the Terracotta Warriors early and treat it as the main plan. Return to town for biangbiang noodles, roujiamo, or yangrou paomo.
If you have a late train
Add Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Shaanxi History Museum if booked, or one more old-city food stop. Keep luggage logistics in mind.
Do not skip the old city at night
The towers, wall area, and food streets feel different after dark and are easy to enjoy without complicated transport.
Booking Notes
- Check museum reservations before assuming you can enter.
- Leave enough time to reach Xi'an North Railway Station if departing by high-speed rail.
- Terracotta Warriors transport is easier if planned the night before.
- Choose a hotel inside or near the city wall for a short stay.
Route Mistakes to Avoid
- Do not put the Terracotta Warriors after a full old-city walking day.
- Do not eat a huge food crawl before a long bus or taxi ride.
- Avoid spreading a two-day stay across too many neighborhoods.
- Keep cashless payment and Chinese place names ready.

Planning Note
Xi'an is satisfying when the trip has one museum-scale day and one old-city day. That split keeps the history readable and leaves room for the food.
